MIT Personas Project has Michael Vick’s Number
“Go here and put your name in the box. Just do it. It’s awesome.”
That’s how TechCrunch started an article about the Personas Project out of the MIT Media Lab. I agree, check it out.
Putting my own name in the box was interesting. It sees my online presence as Online, Management and Professional, which seem reasonable. I did notice that it doesn’t present the same results every time, and worse results can vary pretty dramatically between tried. The second time I ran it for me it returned “Fashion” as my dominant Internet persona. Huh? Kind of like the Internet version of “My Tivo thinks I’m gay.”
For kicks I ran it using Michael Vick’s name. The result was pretty spot on I’d say…
It’s sobering to realize how much of and how accurate a picture one’s Internet footsteps can create.
